Chiefs, Tyreek Hill working on record-setting contract

We're on the cusp of a new highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history.

The Kansas City Chiefs are working on a long-term deal with Tyreek Hill, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract. The new contract will eclipse Odell Beckham Jr.'s five-year, $90 million extension with $65 million in total guarantees signed last offseason per a source informed on the situation.

NFL Media's Ian Rapoport first reported the news.

A fifth-round pick in 2016, Hill is a mismatch for defensive backs who are likely to be burnt by his speed if they have any kind of misstep. In addition to extremely safe hands, the 25-year-old has the athleticism to out-jump even the most elite defenders.

The 25-year-old has been named to the Pro Bowl in each of his three seasons and has two first team All-Pro selection (2016 and 2018). Hill generated career highs in receptions (87), yards (1,479) and TDs (12) in a the Kansas City's record breaking offense in 2018.

In three seasons, Hill has 223 receptions for 3,255 yards and 25 receiving touchdowns. Head coach Andy Reid has also rushed the player 63 times, totaling 477 yards and four additional TDs. Hill's speed has made him an elite punt returner too, with another 1,017 yards and four touchdowns on 92 punt returns, per Pro Football Reference.
