Eagles a strong team that's taking risk at linebacker

Prior to this month's draft, 1SBD's Mark Hogan takes an in-depth look into each team's current projected starters and identifies strengths and lingering team needs after the first waves of free agency.

TAKEAWAYS

PROS

- Philadelphia remains a strong team despite losing the NFC East title in 2018. Its offensive skill positions are occupied by one of the best groups in the league. The trade for running back Jordan Howard filled a big need, and acquiring (former?) Philly-favourite wide receiver Desean Jackson will wipe out the hole left by Golden Tate -- who signed with NFC East rival New York for double the price.

CONS

- It might be time to try and find Jason Peters' replacement at left tackle. The future Hall of Famer looked set to retire as soon as this year, so it seems there will be no guarantees he will remain going forward.

- Following the departure of Jordan Hicks in free agency, linebacker Nigel Bradham is the only quality defender projected to start at the position right now. Kamu Grugier-Hill has the potential to develop, and Paul Worrilow was projected to start in 2018 before suffering a season-ending knee injury last May. Realistically those two guys will play in a rotation while Bradham assumes most of the responsibility. That plan is all well and good, but if Bradham gets injured it could jar the whole defense.
