TAKEAWAYS
PROS
- The Bengals aren't letting themselves get pulled into the race for a new quarterback. New head coach - and former Rams quarterbacks coach - Zac Taylor has said nothing about needing a specific kind of signal caller for his scheme. The team didn't even do much research on this year's draft class -- Dwayne Haskins attends college in the same state but didn't get a visit to Cincinnati's building. Fans in Ohio might be disappointed, but the Bengals have plenty of holes and look ready to fill them -- sooner rather than later.
- Cornerback Darqueze Dennard returned to Ohio after testing free agency. The team also added BW Webb in free agency. That kind of depth will come in handy with teams stressing the passing game -- and the AFC North rival Browns getting stacked on offense.
CONS
- Cincinnati finally pulled the plug on Vontaze Burfict so middle linebacker becomes a top priority in the draft. The Cincinnati unit was poor last year and desperately needs to add a new play-maker.Unfortunately for the Bengals, there isn't a lot of talent behind LSU's Devin White - who could be gone when the team picks 11th - and Michigan's Devin Bush.
- The Bengals offensive line hasn't a lot of depth. Bobby Hart is penciled in for right tackle after resigning with the team despite giving up too many penalties in 2018. Fans will hope the front office tries to find a couple of replacements over the weekend.
