Heisman trophy-winning quarterback Kyler Murray says his decision to play professional baseball or football is coming "very soon".
The former Oklahoma Sooner player has caused confusion by not declaring which sport he will opt for, and despite being taken 9th overall by the Oakland Athletics in last year's MLB draft, has yet to state whether he will join the team for spring training in just three weeks time.
Murray was granted one final season with the Sooners when offered his As contract last year, but a stellar campaign by the quarterback saw his NFL stock rise -- putting his baseball career in doubt.
Speaking to NFL Media's Andrew Siciliano, Murray didn't provide many clues about his future. But despite declaring for the NFL draft on January 14, Murray told the NFL Network host he would rather hit a home run than throw a touchdown: "You got bragging rights on that pitcher. You did that. Nobody else helped."
When asked if he would like to be drafted first overall by an NFL team, the quarterback added "I would love to in any [sport], if it was basketball, if it was soccer, whatever."
The 21-year-old seemed disgruntled by claims that his college system helped him, stating he and fellow Oklahoma product Baker Mayfield are special players.
"I don't think you can just put a kid in at quarterback and put up the numbers that me and Baker put up. ... I'm not trying to sound cocky or anything. I just think it's two special football players and special kids that put the time in. ...The results obviously show for themselves."
We can only wait and see whether Murray tests his belief out in the NFL.
